2027: Gbenga Daniel Urges Nigerians to Support Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Daniel made the appeal on Sunday during the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Mid-term Community Assessment and Review Tour held at Ijebu Imushin in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The senator praised President Tinubu’s administration for what he described as unprecedented achievements across critical sectors, particularly in solid minerals, noting that the sector had undergone remarkable transformation within just one year.

He commended the president for implementing bold reforms that have repositioned the mining industry, revealing that revenue from solid minerals had surged from ₦6 billion to ₦38 billion — a feat he attributed to efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

According to him, “The mining sector under President Tinubu has received greater attention, and the revenue from solid minerals has grown from ₦6 billion to ₦38 billion in just one year. This became possible because of the President’s decisive stance that the era of exporting raw minerals is over. Mining licences will now only be granted to investors who commit to local processing and value addition, which will create jobs and ensure that prosperity derived from mining remains in Nigeria.”

Daniel urged residents of Ogun East to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, emphasizing that continuity in leadership at both the federal and legislative levels was crucial to fulfilling regional aspirations, including the creation of Ijebu/Remo State and the establishment of the Ijebu Seaport project.

“By God’s grace, President Tinubu will not disappoint us. What we are hearing is that one new state will be created from each geopolitical zone, and continuity in leadership will make this dream achievable,” he stated.

The senator clarified that the tour was not a political rally but a grassroots engagement designed to evaluate developmental progress, gather feedback, and communicate federal initiatives directly to the people.

Highlighting his achievements, Daniel mentioned that over 4,000 residents across Ogun East had benefited from his eye-care intervention programme, alongside other empowerment initiatives.

He reiterated his commitment to working with the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to harness the region’s rich natural resources for long-term economic growth and sustainable development.

Daniel, who governed Ogun State between 2003 and 2011, currently represents Ogun East in the Senate after being elected in 2023 under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
