Babcock University Denies Involvement in Student’s Disappearance, Considers Legal Action

Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has denied allegations of negligence or complicity in the disappearance of one of its students, Oladipupo Siwajuola, whose absence was recently made public by his mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo.

In an official statement issued by the institution’s Director of Communication and Public Relations, Joshua Suleiman, the university clarified that Siwajuola left the campus without authorization and did not follow the standard clearance procedures. Suleiman criticized the student’s mother for taking to social media to make what the university described as unverified and sensational claims, accusing both the institution and its students of negligence.

The university stated that it had been cooperating with the Nigeria Police Force, security agencies, student associations, and concerned individuals to locate Siwajuola. While reports indicated that he was later found in Akute, within the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Babcock University noted that it had not yet received official confirmation from the police regarding his whereabouts.

“Babcock University is a responsible, faith-based academic institution that prioritizes the safety, security, and welfare of its students,” Suleiman emphasized, adding that the school has comprehensive safety protocols, including hall monitoring and campus surveillance systems, which are routinely evaluated to address new concerns.

The statement also condemned what the university described as “irresponsible and reckless use of social media” by the student’s mother, alleging that her actions were designed to incite public tension and harm the school’s reputation.

Babcock University concluded by stating that it reserves the right to pursue legal action to protect its image and would not hesitate to do so if necessary.
