Officials from the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) have stated that controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is being treated like any other inmate at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre. Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse, is reportedly sharing a cell with male inmates.
The decision to treat Bobrisky as a normal inmate was made after he was examined at the point of admission. The examination revealed that there was no realignment of gender or genital organs, confirming his male biological features.
According to a top official at the facility, Bobrisky has been allocated a cell and a bed space, and he is expected to follow the same rules and procedures as other inmates. This includes attending classes, receiving food portions, and observing prep and lights out times.
The official clarified that Bobrisky is not receiving any special treatment or protection from abuse. The facility prohibits any form of abuse by inmates, and anyone attempting to violate him will face the law. Homosexuality is also outlawed in the custodial centre, and any inmate engaging in such acts will be punished accordingly.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Command of the NCS declined to comment on the matter.
