Dignitaries Converge in Owo for Late Governor Akeredolu’s Burial

The ancient town of Owo, Ondo State, is today witnessing a remarkable gathering of dignitaries who have come to pay their respects at the final burial ceremony of the late former governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu. Mr. Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, after a protracted illness in a German hospital, will be laid to rest today at the burial site in the community.

The funeral service is currently underway at the St. Andrew’s Cathedral Anglican Church, Imola, Owo. Among the dignitaries in attendance are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ondo State Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, among others.

According to the burial arrangement, the late governor will be interred at a burial ground in the town, with attendance restricted to the immediate Akeredolu family.

This gathering of prominent figures to honor the late former governor reflects the high esteem and respect in which he was held. It is a moment for reflection and remembrance of his significant contributions to Ondo State.
