The Edo State Security Corps has arrested three suspected kidnappers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Asene Ogah (49), Ibhafidon Eric (29), and Ekpu Godfrey (44), were apprehended in connection with multiple kidnapping cases in the area. Security operatives reportedly recovered two locally made pump-action guns from them.
Swift Response to Distress Call
Speaking in Benin City on Friday, the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, Friday Ibadin, said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday after his men responded to a distress call from a woman.
According to Ibadin, the woman, after making the call, hid in the bush while security operatives arrived at the scene, rescued her, and later arrested the suspects.
He revealed that the three men were part of a seven-man gang that attempted to abduct the woman at her residence in Uromi.
Further Investigations Underway
Ibadin confirmed that the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
