Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives, Injures 10 On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
In a tragic incident on Friday at the Kara turning section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, two individuals lost their lives, and 10 others suffered various degrees of injuries in a collision. Mrs. Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun Command, confirmed the accident, stating that it occurred at 8:32 a.m. and involved a Mazda bus with the registration XV 945 EPE and an unregistered Howo Sino truck.
Okpe attributed the accident to route violation and dangerous driving on the part of the bus driver, who collided with the truck. Of the 14 people involved in the accident, two died instantly, 10 sustained injuries, and two emerged unharmed. The injured victims were transported to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, while the deceased were taken to Idera Mortuary, Sagamu.
Quoting FRSC Sector Commander Anthony Uga, Okpe relayed his admonition to drivers to avoid all forms of driving against traffic (one way) and to exercise caution while driving, emphasizing the need to prevent jeopardizing their lives and those of other road users.
Uga reiterated the FRSC’s unwavering commitment to fostering a safer motoring environment and maintaining service delivery. He sought the cooperation of all individuals to contribute to road safety efforts.
