Fayose Reconciles With Obasanjo During Visit to Abeokuta Residence
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, signaling an end to their long-standing political rift.
The visit, which took place ahead of Fayose’s 65th birthday on November 15, marked a reconciliation between the two influential politicians who had publicly clashed over the years.
A photo from the meeting, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Fayose’s former aide, Lere Olayinka, captured Obasanjo dressed in a white traditional outfit and green cap, playing Ayo, a traditional Yoruba board game, while Fayose watched with admiration.
The two leaders, who had often criticized each other in the past—Obasanjo once calling Fayose “unruly” and Fayose accusing the former president of “arrogance and political intolerance”—appeared relaxed and cordial during the visit.
Sources disclosed that Fayose used the occasion to express his respect for Obasanjo and appreciation for his leadership experience.
The meeting comes as several political associates continue to extend goodwill messages to Fayose in anticipation of his upcoming 65th birthday celebration.
