Five Dead, 10 Injured in Lagos/Ibadan Expressway Crash

A tragic accident on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway has claimed the lives of five individuals and left 10 others injured. The accident, which occurred around NASFAT, involved three vehicles, including a DAF Truck with registration number KUT561ZZ, a Toyota Haice Bus with registration number GGE84YF, and a Man diesel truck without a visible registration number.

According to Florence Okpe, the Chief Routes Commander and Education Officer of the Ogun State sector of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash was caused by dangerous driving, particularly on the part of one of the trucks that made a sudden U-turn without signaling, leading to the loss of control of both the truck and the bus.

The injured victims were promptly taken to Famobi Hospital Mowe for medical attention, while the deceased were deposited at the Idera Hospital morgue in Sagamu.

In response to the accident, the Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, issued a stern warning to motorists regarding speed and reckless driving. He emphasized that any driver involved in a crash resulting in loss of life will be prosecuted immediately, serving as a deterrent to other drivers.

Mr. Uga expressed his concern over the frequent accidents along the corridor axis and advised motorists to prioritize safety by avoiding speeding and driving defensively.
