In a Thursday afternoon attack on the Oluke community in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, gunmen killed one person and injured two local chiefs. The state’s Police Command has initiated an investigation into the attack.
According to reports from a source within the community, the attack occurred on Thursday, leaving one person dead and two others with gunshot injuries. The deceased was identified as a member of the Ogun State Community, Social, and Orientation Corps, known as So-Safe Corps. The attack is believed to be a result of the ongoing dispute over the traditional leadership of the community, which has led to a series of petitions.
The gunmen reportedly invaded the community on Thursday afternoon and targeted two chiefs who were returning from a meeting, shooting at their vehicles and causing chaos. Kusika Benjamin, a So-Safe operative, heard the gunshots and chased after the gunmen into the bush, where he was shot and killed.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the police received a distress call and rescued the injured chiefs. She added that an investigation has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
