
Gunmen Kill Babcock University Professor, Abduct Two Others
In a tragic incident, unknown gunmen have reportedly killed Professor Yinka Olomojobi, a professor of Law at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State. The incident, which occurred in the Iperu area of the state, also involved the abduction of two residents.
According to reports, the gunmen shot Professor Olomojobi dead on Friday after he allegedly refused to be taken away by the assailants. Additionally, two residents were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Omolola Odutola, stated that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident. She mentioned that a two-week-old security guard was arrested based on reasonable suspicion, and the police have initiated discreet investigations.
The incident, which took place on the 19th of April, 2024, at about 9:20 pm, involved the emergence of eight armed men dressed in black at the Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road in the Iperu area. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately, with Professor Olomojobi being shot in the chest for resisting the assailants. Additionally, a manager of a car stand known as Dare, and another individual whose identity is yet to be confirmed, were abducted by the gunmen.
The police have launched efforts to apprehend the culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
