PEOPLES TALK

Let us pray for Sagamu; no Sagamu day celebration this year. Oba Akarigbo speaks.

Sagamu Day Celebrations Transformed into Solemn Prayer Sessions: A Unified Remo Land Stands Against Violence.  In light of the recent heart-wrenching events of violence in Sagamu, The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, CFR, FCA, has made a resolute decision to transform the traditional Sagamu Day celebrations into a series of prayer sessions, in solidarity with the community’s collective grief and the imperative need for peace and healing.

The prayer sessions have been thoughtfully arranged, embracing the diverse faiths within the community, in the following order:

1. Friday, October 27th, 2023 – Islamic Prayer Session

Location: Sagamu Central Mosque

Time: 2:00 PM

2. Saturday, October 28th, 2023 – Traditional Prayer Session

Location: Akarigbo Palace, Ita Oba

Time: 8:00 AM

Followed by a modest cultural display, commemorating the rich heritage of the Remo people.

3. Sunday, October 29th, 2023 – Christian Prayer Session

Location: Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Sagamu

Time: 10:00 AM

These prayer sessions serve as an embodiment of the unity and strength of the people of Sagamu, as they come together to mourn and pray for a peaceful and harmonious future. The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler calls on all residents and well-wishers to join in this spiritual journey towards healing and reconciliation.
