Man and Nurse Arrested for Alleged Defilement and Abortion of Minor in Lagos

A 46-year-old man, known as Fred, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in the Ifako-Gbagada area of Lagos State. The suspect is accused of repeatedly defiling the victim over a two-year period. Shockingly, he allegedly impregnated the victim twice and coerced her into having abortions on both occasions.

The alleged defilement and abortions were reportedly carried out with the knowledge of the victim’s guardian, who also resides with Fred. Despite the victim’s complaints, the guardian failed to take action against Fred until both were arrested. An auxiliary nurse who reportedly conducted the abortions was also arrested in connection with the case.

The Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network reported the incident to the Ifako police station, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The group commended the swift action of the police and urged the authorities and the Lagos State Government to ensure that justice is served in the case.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted once it is concluded.
