NDLEA NABS HAIR STYLIST AND DISPATCH RIDER FOR PEDDLING DRUG-LACED CHIN-CHIN IN YENAGOA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended two individuals, 20-year-old Josephine Odunu, a hair stylist, and 30-year-old Edesemi Ikporo, a dispatch rider, for their involvement in the sale and distribution of illicit drug-laced chin-chin to school students and at social gatherings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The arrests were made following a surveillance operation conducted by NDLEA officers around the Opolo area of Yenagoa on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Edesemi Ikporo was intercepted with 200 grams of chin-chin containing cannabis sativa, which he intended to deliver to a buyer.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Josephine Odunu, who was found to be distributing the drugged chin-chin from the salon where she works in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa. It was discovered that they often laced the chin-chin with cannabis and tramadol, distributing them to students and at birthday parties.

Speaking on the arrests, the Director, Media & Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, emphasized the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria. He urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Both suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws.
