NNPCL refutes claims of fuel pump price adjustments

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims suggesting that it has lowered the pump prices of petrol and diesel. In a statement, the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, dismissed these assertions as false and urged the public to disregard them.

Reports circulating on social media platforms on Tuesday and Wednesday had indicated that the NNPCL had reduced the pump price of petrol to below N600 and diesel below N900. However, the NNPCL clarified that these reports are inaccurate and should not be believed.

The NNPC Ltd reiterated its commitment to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum products supply across all its retail stations nationwide. The pump price of petrol had risen significantly following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, soaring to over N600 from about N200 during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
