Ogun Government to Disburse N500m Grants to Artisans, Small Business Owners

The Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives has commenced registration ahead of the disbursement of N500 million in grants targeted at artisans and small-scale business owners.

Commissioner Ademola Balogun made this known while addressing members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Community Development and Cooperatives during the ongoing 2025 mid-year budget performance review at the Assembly complex in Abeokuta. He emphasized that the initiative, which is part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration’s efforts to boost self-sufficiency and socio-economic growth, will be handled transparently. Balogun added that the scheme is designed to accommodate all eligible beneficiaries across various sectors.

Chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Dickson Awolaja, urged for increased budgetary allocations to further enhance grassroots economic development and cooperative investment efforts.

Similarly, the House Committee on Youth and Sports, led by Hon. Lukman Atobatele, reviewed the performance of the Ministry of Sports Development. Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Lanre Ogunyinka, who represented the ministry, expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their ongoing support. He also highlighted notable achievements, including the successful hosting of the 2024 National Sports Festival, tagged the ‘Gateway Games’.

Ogunyinka further disclosed the completion of renovation works at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena and Alake Sports Complex, along with the construction of Olympic-standard swimming pools and tennis courts, as part of the state’s commitment to sports development.
