Oba Lekan Balogun, a revered traditional ruler, was known for his wisdom, leadership, and commitment to the development of Ibadanland. His reign was marked by significant strides in promoting peace, unity, and progress in the community.

According to reports, the late monarch was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after experiencing a slight malaria fever. Despite being in good health on Monday, where he personally received guests to commemorate his second-year anniversary, his condition deteriorated rapidly.

In a statement issued by the Personal Assistant (Media) to the late monarch, Oladele Ogunsola, the Baba-Kekere Olubadan and his younger brother, Dr. Kola Balogun, announced that Oba Balogun would be buried at his Aliiwo ancestral home by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, in accordance with Islamic rites. They also mentioned that while the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had been verbally informed, formal notification would be sent early in the morning.

As Ibadan mourns the loss of a great leader, the legacy of Oba Lekan Balogun will continue to inspire generations to come. His life and reign serve as a testament to the enduring values of courage, compassion, and service to community and country. May his soul rest in peace.
