One Fatality Reported as Bandits Attack Ago Are Community in Oyo State

Ibadan — In a tragic turn of events, Ago Are, a community in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State, was invaded by bandits on Saturday night, resulting in the loss of one life. Armed with dangerous weapons, the hoodlums instigated chaos before fleeing into the forest. A source revealed that the bandits’ swift escape hindered immediate apprehension.

Chairman of Atisbo Local Government Area, Mr. Adeagbo Ademola, confirmed the incident, stating that he was alerted promptly. “It is true that some bandits invaded Ago Are in Oke Ogun last night. I got a call as the Chairman of the council that the hoodlums had attacked and killed a man,” Ademola said.

Upon arriving at the scene with security agents, Ademola discovered the unfortunate fatality and the bandits’ escape. He expressed deep concern over the security breach and reassured the public that investigations are underway. Ademola urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agents.

Highlighting a boundary dispute in the community, Ademola noted, “At Irawo, about 180 kilometers, we share boundary with Benin Republic.” To prevent future incidents, he emphasized that both conventional and local security agents have been mobilized. Ademola also mentioned a recent meeting convened by Governor Seyi Makinde with local government chairmen and security agents to strategize on enhancing security in the state.

While the situation has been stabilized, residents are urged to remain cautious and cooperate with authorities to ensure the safety of the community.
