The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Ogun State chapter, has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting the health and well-being of residents across the state through sustained advocacy, professional ethics, capacity development, and pharmaceutical innovations.
The chairman of the state chapter, Pharm. Adewale Adenugba, stated this in a release heralding the 2025 Pharmacy Week themed: “Harnessing Pharmaceutical Innovations for Equitable Healthcare in a Rapidly Evolving Economy.” He noted that the Ogun PSN is positioning itself as a model of excellence within Nigeria’s pharmaceutical landscape.
Adenugba emphasized that the society remains committed to advancing responsible drug use, promoting health education, and ensuring broader access to pharmaceutical services for the benefit of all.
The Pharmacy Week will commence tomorrow with a Health Walk Against Drug Abuse and Misuse, during which pharmacists across the state, led by the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Drug and Health Commodities Management Agency, Mrs. Funke Oyeneye, will visit Kuto Motor Park in Abeokuta to educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse and misuse.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at DLK Events Centre, Leme, Abeokuta. The weeklong activities will conclude on Wednesday, June 18, with the society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Highlights of the closing event include the investiture of the newly elected PSN Ogun Chairman, inauguration of new state executives, and the recognition of distinguished individuals in the healthcare sector with merit awards. A luncheon and fundraising event in support of the PSN Ogun Pharmaresource Hub Project will also be held on the same day at 1:00 p.m.
Pharmacist Samson Yomi Osewa, founder of The Ambassadors Schools in Ota, will serve as the Chairman of the occasion, while the First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, will grace the event as Special Guest of Honour. The national PSN President, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko, is expected as the Chief Host, and the keynote address will be delivered by respected pharmaceutical expert and innovation advocate, Pharm. Lekan Asuni.
