Suspected Cultist Arrested with Firearm During Police Raid in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected cultist, Ismail Afolabi, found in possession of a loaded firearm during a police operation in Abeokuta.

According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the arrest was made following credible intelligence received on June 27, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m. The intelligence indicated that members of the Eiye Confraternity were holding a secret meeting with suspected criminal motives in the Saje Area of Car Wash, Abeokuta.

Acting swiftly, operatives from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit were deployed to the location. Upon arrival, the officers intercepted Afolabi, who was attempting to flee the scene. He was found with a cross-body bag containing a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun loaded with live ammunition.

“Preliminary investigations have begun, and efforts are in progress to track down other individuals connected to the meeting,” Odutola said.

She reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command’s resolve to combat cult-related activities and ensure the safety and security of residents across the state.
