Members of the Vanguard Media Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited have called on the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, to intervene urgently and protect them from land grabbers who have allegedly invaded their property in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.
The affected property, located at Lokoji Village, off the Sagamu–Papalanto Expressway, is valued at approximately ₦885 million.
In a petition submitted through their lawyer, Mr. Adebayo Raji, the Cooperative alleged that a group of five men unlawfully entered the land, destroyed structures, breached the peace, and issued life-threatening warnings. They further claimed that the group has forcibly taken over the land belonging to Vanguard Media Staff (Amuwo Odofin) Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited.
According to the petition, the suspects—identified as natives and residents of Lokoji Village—have continued to engage in organised land-grabbing activities, allegedly attempting to profit from land that does not belong to them. The Cooperative added that the men have issued threats to the lives of their members and those of:
- Chief Olalekan Kabiru, Baale of Lokoji Village
- Mr. Adio Koleoso
- Mr. Ajani Momodu
- Mr. Rahmon Lateef
including their families.
They further alleged that the suspects have deployed “an army of overbearing and despicable men,” reportedly brought in to intimidate residents and continue the unlawful seizure of the Cooperative’s parcels of land.
The petitioners are appealing for swift action from the Ogun State Police Command to restore peace, protect lives, and prevent further encroachment on their property.
