WAEC Suspends Access to 2025 WASSCE Results Due to Technical Glitches

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily suspended access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates. This action follows the discovery of technical glitches during a post-release review of the results.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, the glitches were linked to a newly introduced system called paper serialisation, aimed at curbing examination malpractice. The serialisation was implemented in key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

WAEC explained that although the results were initially released, a subsequent internal audit revealed bugs affecting the aforementioned subjects. As a result, access to the results through the official online portal has been temporarily suspended.

“As a responsive and professional body committed to fairness,” the Council stated, “we are urgently addressing and correcting the identified technical issues.”

WAEC apologised to all affected candidates, urging them to check back after 24 hours. “We extend our deep and sincere apologies and appreciate the patience and understanding of all candidates as we work transparently and swiftly to resolve the matter,” Adesina added.
