2027: I Will Make Tinubu Lose 1 Million Votes: Marafa

Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, a former lawmaker from Zamfara State, has declared that his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) will cost President Bola Ahmed Tinubu no fewer than one million votes in the 2027 presidential election.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Gusau by Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Senator Marafa Group and Political Leader of the Senator Marafa Support Group.

According to Maikatako, Marafa’s exit from the ruling party has reignited his political base, as thousands of supporters across the country have pledged solidarity and expressed readiness to follow him into his next political chapter.

“I can confidently say that the resignation of Senator Marafa from APC has reinvigorated his political base. I have been receiving overwhelming calls from supporters nationwide expressing their solidarity and readiness to move with him to the next level of political engagement,” Maikatako stated.

Quoting the former senator, he added: “By the special grace of Almighty Allah (SWT), we will deduct not less than one million votes from the President’s tally in the next general election. This is not an empty boast but a strategic move backed by a committed, disciplined, and determined political structure. Time will prove us right, and those who doubt us will soon regret underestimating the power of a people-oriented movement.”

Maikatako described the surge of support as proof of Marafa’s enduring popularity, credibility, and the deep trust reposed in his leadership. He said the decision to leave the APC was not personal but a collective resolution reached with loyal supporters after due consultation.

He further explained that Marafa’s defection was driven by disappointment with President Tinubu’s administration, particularly its failure to tackle insecurity in Zamfara State.

“Senator Marafa served as the State Campaign Coordinator for Mr. President in the 2023 general elections and played a key role in delivering Zamfara. Unfortunately, the President failed to reciprocate that loyalty and commitment with action,” he said.

Maikatako added that preparations are underway for what he described as “one of the most historic presidential campaigns in Nigeria’s democratic history,” assuring that the movement will challenge the status quo and restore integrity to leadership.

“The political revolution has just begun, and we invite all well-meaning Nigerians to join us on this journey to reclaim our democracy,” he concluded.
