So-Safe Corps Arrests Ex-Convict, Another Suspect for Alleged Theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has apprehended an ex-convict and another individual for alleged theft in the Idiroko border area of Ipokia Local Government Area. The suspects, Abdullahi Idowu (18) and Samson Ojo (17), both residents of Idiroko, were caught with two bags containing stolen generator engine parts.

The Corps Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, revealing that the suspects were apprehended during a joint patrol by the Special Squad and the Idiroko Divisional Team, led by Chief Superintendent Abdulkareem Abdulrazaq, around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the generator parts from the Idiroko border area and admitted to a previous theft of a large battery, which they sold to a scrap dealer the Friday before.

Yusuf explained, “The suspects were arrested during a joint routine patrol by the Special Squad and the Idiroko Divisional Team of the Corps. Upon their arrest, they were found with two bags containing stolen generator engine parts. A preliminary investigation revealed that Abdullahi Idowu is an ex-convict who had served a jail term in the Benin Republic.”

Further investigations led the team to the scene of the theft in Idiroko, confirming that the stolen items belonged to a Customs office. Additional generator parts were discovered in a nearby bush.

The suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko, for further investigation.
