Man Dies After Dispute Over Seized Motorcycle in Ogun, Police Launch Manhunt for Community Leader
Tragedy struck in the Imode area of Ewekoro Local Government, Ogun State, as a man identified as Isiaka Kazeem reportedly slumped and died amid a prolonged dispute with a local community leader over the release of his seized motorcycle. The Ogun State Police Command has since launched a manhunt for the said community leader, popularly known as “Youngest Baale,” who is currently on the run.
According to police sources, the incident was formally reported on Friday by a resident of Omoboriowo Street in Ejio Town. Investigations revealed that Kazeem’s TVS motorcycle had allegedly been confiscated by the Baale on July 20 for reasons yet to be disclosed. Despite several visits to plead for the release of his bike, the deceased was repeatedly turned away.
The situation took a tragic turn on July 24, when Kazeem, after another failed effort to reclaim his motorcycle, reportedly collapsed while on his way back home and died at the scene.
Police detectives who visited the area confirmed the Baale was not present at his residence when they arrived. The premises were documented as part of the investigation, and Kazeem’s body was deposited at the State Hospital mortuary in Ifo for autopsy.
The Ogun State Police Command has assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing Baale and recover the seized motorcycle as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding Kazeem’s death.
