A prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Eagle Parish, identified as Yomi Adetula, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen during a church service in Odo Eran, Idiroko, Ogun State.
Reports indicate that the 54-year-old cleric was attacked around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday while the congregation was gathered for worship. The assailants not only shot him but also inflicted severe head injuries using an axe.
Eyewitnesses revealed that three armed men stormed the church, pulled out a long double-barrel gun, and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that officers arrived at the church to find Adetula lying lifeless in a pool of blood, his white garment stained red.
“Upon arrival, officers found Yomi Adetula, a 54-year-old male, lying face up in his own blood. His body was riddled with bullets, and his head had been severely mutilated with an axe,” Odutola said.
She added that the Idiroko Divisional Police Officer facilitated the transfer of the deceased’s body to the General Hospital morgue in Ilaro.
