Ogun Polytechnic Closed Following Students’ Protest

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the closure of the institution effective Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice.

According to reports, the decision was taken to safeguard lives and property amid ongoing protests by some students. The demonstrations arose in response to the administration’s move to verify National Diploma results from previous institutions. Students also raised concerns over an alleged hike in tuition fees and delays in the mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) students for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The announcement was made in a statement released by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, in Abeokuta. The statement emphasized the management’s commitment to addressing issues of fake results. It read:

“Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters. Consequently, students have been advised to stay away from the campus in their interests, as parents and the general public are assured of a timely update as events unfold.”
